The Road to Becoming Cumby Group

What began as a single person operation has now evolved into an organization with 55 team members that continues to grow every day. Back in 2009, founder and CEO, Bryan Cumby, was sitting at a project site on Forest Trail in Austin, Texas managing all aspects of a construction site by himself. Now, he and the team members work together to develop, construct, sell and lease luxurious multi-family and commercial developments around the Austin area.

When the company first began, there were two entities- J.B. Cumby Construction and Mid-City Development. With the vision to create a vertically integrated organization capable of handling all aspects of a real estate project, J.B. Cumby Construction was focused on building and Mid-City Development handled the site selection and design.

In the first decade, the organization demonstrated success with the concept of a vertically integrated construction and development group by executing 14 successful projects. Through that experience, it became clear that in order for the business to scale there would be benefits in creating a clearer branding strategy. 

Deliberate discussion began to find the most efficient and effective way to rebrand the company in a way that honors our history and focuses on the future. The result of the planning process became the formation of Cumby Group. Within Cumby Group there are four internal divisions- Cumby Development, Cumby Construction, Cumby Properties, and Cumby Equipment each playing a unique role in successfully fulfilling the requirements of our projects.

Taking the step to become Cumby Group represents the next chapter of our company’s existence in becoming the region’s best integrated real estate company.
